2024 Nissan Armada

As a full-sized, three-row SUV, the 2024 Nissan Armada not only meets the needs of those who need to transport a crowd, but does it with both luxury and capability. Besides accommodating eight passengers (or seven with second-row captain’s chairs in the configuration), it has a tow capacity (up to 8,500 pounds) that rivals that of the full-sized pickup class. But what most of its occupants will notice first is the long list of amenities for a comfortable and connected ride. And when the second and third rows aren’t needed for seating, they can be folded flat to open up 92.6 cubic feet of cargo space.

For 2024, Nissan has dropped the S trim from the low end of the lineup, making the SV the new base level. This change allows buyers to get more sought-after features – such as wireless smartphone charging and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen – in the entry-level Armada.

Trims and Powertrains

The SV, SL, Midnight Edition, and Platinum make up the trim selection for the 2024 Nissan Armada. A 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine making 413 pounds-feet of torque provides the propulsion for this mighty vehicle, pairing with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but most buyers will go for the available Intelligent four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case. When the Armada is properly equipped, it can tow a maximum of 8,500 pounds, which is more than the Chevy Tahoe or Suburban. Its top payload capacity is 1,636 pounds.

The official estimations performed by the EPA show that the RWD Armada achieves 14 miles per gallon around town and 19 mpg on the highway. The 4WD version is rated for 13 city/18 highway.

Standard Features

The SV is beyond a typical base model with leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, four USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, a 10-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support, an 8-way power passenger’s seat with lumbar support, a 7-inch driver information center, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, three 12-volt DC power outlets, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a HomeLink universal transceiver. Its exterior highlights are LED headlights and fog lights, a chrome grille, heated power-folding side mirrors, silver roof rails, body-colored running boards, a Class IV tow hitch receiver with a 7-pin wiring harness, and 20-inch 12-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. The SL is improved with leather upholstery in the first and second rows, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, position memory (driver’s seat, outside mirrors, and steering wheel), a power liftgate, a power sliding glass moonroof, a 120-volt AC power outlet, and 20-inch 18-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

The Midnight Edition moves to a seven-passenger limit with a pair of captain’s chairs replacing the second-row bench seat. It’s also uniquely styled with a black grille, black roof rails, black exterior badging and accents, black interior accents, trim-specific floor mats, and 20-inch 12-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. (Note that the Midnight Edition package can be added to the SL to give it some of these design elements.)

The top-of-the-line Platinum has quilted leather upholstery in the first and middle rows, climate-controlled front seats (heated and cooled), heated second-row outboard seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a third-row 60/40-split fold-down bench seat with power recline and one-touch folding features, birdseye maple wood-tone trim, illuminated cup holders, power heated and folding chrome outside mirrors with LED turn indicators, dark-gray roof rails, and 22-inch 14-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 technology comes standard to arm every Armada with adaptive cruise control, driver attention warning, lane departure warning, intelligent lane intervention, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, a rearview camera, and automatic high-beams. The SL adds the Intelligent Around-View Monitor, while the Platinum contains intelligent backup intervention, an intelligent rearview mirror, and traffic sign recognition.

Infotainment and Connectivity

As mentioned, a 12.3-inch touchscreen is now the standard size for the NissanConnect infotainment system. All trims get wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition, and HD Radio. While the SV gets a six-speaker sound system, the SL and higher are upgraded with a 13-speaker premium Bose sound system.
