2024 Nissan GT-R
Combining exquisite styling with exceptional power, the 2024 Nissan GT-R is designed to take on the track, but it’s appropriate for road travel as well. For 2024, Nissan enhanced this supercar’s aerodynamics for a better ride and handling, providing a new front bumper and front lip design. Plus, the rear spoiler and bumper sides have been revised to add downforce without increasing drag. The GT-R is one of the only sports cars with this level of power that still has a useable back seat and a functional trunk (capacity: 8.8 cubic feet).
Nissan plans to release two special editions to commemorate the nameplate, which will cease production after this model year. The limited run of the GT-R Skyline Edition will be offered in exclusive Bayside Blue paint with a rich blue interior. There will also be a GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition with each unit hand-assembled by one of five master Takumi craftsmen, who will be identified by a plaque on the vehicle.
Trims and Powertrains
At the moment, Nissan offers the four-seat GT-R in three trims: Premium, T-spec, and NISMO (the special editions will follow). The high-performance 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 565 horsepower and 467 pounds-feet of torque in the first two trims and 600 hp and 481 lb.-ft. in the NISMO. This mighty engine pairs with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drivetrain. This advanced AWD system combines with vehicle dynamic control to ensure that the track-inspired vehicle handles like a rear-wheel drive sports car but with added traction and grip. Although, expect a 0-to-60 mph time of less than 3.0 seconds, with EPA-estimated fuel economy of 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.
Standard Features
The Premium has heated leather-appointed power-adjustable front seats (8-way driver, 4-way passenger), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, simulated suede upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Nissan Intelligent Key, push-button ignition, power-folding heated side mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, two USB ports, and two 12V power outlets. The standard performance-specific equipment consists of Brembo brakes, a customizable Multi-Function Display (to track oil pressure, turbo boost, and oil temperature), a Bilstein DampTronic suspension system, a limited-slip rear differential, a titanium exhaust, a rear spoiler, a carbon-fiber engine chassis brace, and Dunlop high-performance run-flat tires on 20-inch RAYS painted forged-aluminum wheels. The optional Premium Interior Package will upgrade the interior with hand-stitched semi-aniline leather.
The T-spec gets semi-aniline and suede upholstery, a Brembo carbon-ceramic braking system with upgraded cooling, NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control, and trim-specific gold-finished 20-inch RAYS forged-aluminum wheels. Besides the higher-output engine tuning, the ultra-special NISMO has a carbon-fiber grille, composite body components (resulting in lower curb weight), RECARO leather-appointed seats, a steering wheel and gauge hood wrapped in Alcantara simulated suede, a NISMO tuned suspension, and 20-inch black forged aluminum wheels. The NISMO Appearance Package is available to add staggered tires (10” in front, 10.5” in back) front and rear and a clear-coated carbon-fiber hood.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Nissan uses an advanced airbag system with dual-stage inflation, an occupant classification sensor, and seat belt sensors. Every GT-R trim has driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags for better head protection. The GT-R is built with zone-body construction with front and rear crumple zones. While the typical driver-assist technology is limited in this performance-focused two-door, front and rear parking sensors are standard.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The NissanConnect 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard issue in the 2024 GT-R. Its features include navigation, voice recognition, HD Radio, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and a premium Bose sound system with 11 speakers (including 2 subwoofers mounted in the vertical panel between the back seats). Buyers also get a free trial for SiriusXM Travel Link (fuel prices, stock info, sports scores, movie listings, and weather).
