2025 Nissan Murano
The 2025 model year marks an exciting evolution for the long-popular Murano, which Nissan has redesigned with fresh looks and cutting-edge technology that reinforce its reputation for style, practicality, and value. Since its debut in 2003, the Murano has earned accolades for its premium aesthetics, generous standard equipment, and everyday versatility. As it begins its fourth generation, it takes each of these well-established qualities to new heights, offering a more refined driving experience that redefines its wide appeal.
You’ll immediate notice the Murano’s fresh appearance, defined by a wider and more confident stance, with pronounced fender flares. Nissan's latest design language is evident, starting with "Crystal Cube" LED headlights flanked by gloss-black accents and the signature V-motion grille, which is illuminated by the LED daytime running lights “hidden” inside the grille. The elegantly minimalist aesthetic continues to the rear, where hidden exhaust tips, a relocated license plate holder, and a streamlined liftgate emphasize this Murano’s cleaner approach to design. The LED taillights span the width of the rear, completing the updated appearance with their distinctive effect. The cabin that embodies luxury and sophistication, with a clean, crisp layout and soft-touch materials throughout. Inspired by the Nissan Ariya, a capacitive-touch climate control panel and a stunning dual 12.3-inch digital display top the front console and form the basis of this totally modern interior. Showcased on the higher trims is the Murano Glass dashboard finisher, which incorporates color-shifting graphics and textures that interact with light to add visual intrigue.
Trims and Mechanical Specs
The trims levels for the redesigned Murano follow the usual Nissan hierarchy of SV, SL, and Platinum. Their power source is a turbocharged 241 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that uses patented variable compression (VC) technology, which modifies its compression ratio for the optimal mix of power and efficiency. It’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. SV buyers can choose between front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), while the two higher trims are made strictly with AWD.
All ’25 Murano configurations return the same EPA-estimated fuel economy: 21 mpg around town and 27 mpg on the open road. The designated cargo space measures 32.9 cubic feet, which can be increased to 63.5 cu. ft. by folding down the second-row seatback to expand the area. With the proper equipment, the Murano can pull a trailer with a total weight of up to 1,500 pounds.
Standard Equipment
The Murano is a rather elegant vehicle, so it’s not surprising that its base trim has heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, and quite a few power features: the front seats, the heated side mirrors, and the liftgate. It also boasts two zones of automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, remote start (via the key fob), wireless device charging, automatic on/off LED headlights, a 12.3-inch customizable driver information display, a windshield-wiper de-icer, four USB ports, rear privacy glass, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The SL raises the stakes with the aforementioned Murano glass on the interior, plus a panoramic moonroof with power-open/close shade, ambient interior lighting with configurable colors, a deluxe driver’s seat with position memory and full power lumbar adjustability, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, sound-reducing front glass, and upgraded exterior mirrors with built-in turn indicators and reverse tilt-down. The plushest Murano, the Platinum, pampers its privileged occupants with quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery, massaging front seats (heated and ventilated), heated rear outboard seats, a head-up display, sunshades for the rear doors, power-folding exterior mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a motion-activated liftgate, and 21-inch wheels.
Advanced Safety Tech
The updated Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite is installed in every redesigned Murano. The standard components are automatic high beams, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with obstruction detection, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane intervention. Front and rear parking sensors also come standard, along with a driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and traffic sign recognition.
In the SV, ProPilot Assist system utilizes adaptive cruise control with steering assist to ease the monotony of long highway drives. The SL and Platinum receive an upgraded version with navigation data-based speed control. The two higher trims also have a 3-D Intelligent Around View Monitor, which expands the bird’s-eye perspective to include eight virtual viewpoints for a prime view of the vehicle’s surroundings, and the Invisible Hood feature, which provides a virtual view beneath the Murano to help spot obscured obstacles. Nissan has added a new passenger knee airbag while also repositioning the exterior mirrors from the A-pillars to the outer doors to give the driver a clearer view ahead.
Infotainment Features
The 2025 Murano shows off some multimedia improvements, with all trims getting a sophisticated 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The SL and Platinum flaunt a brand-new Google built-in infotainment system with seamless access to useful apps such as Google Maps; these trims also get voice-activated navigation. Audiophiles are sure to appreciate the premium 10-speaker Bose audio system in the higher trims; the base trim gets a good-quality unbranded sound system with six speakers.
